so, i was wondering why out of all the crazy/horrible things you could get in your hanging fireplace sock (aka: christmas stocking) instead of presents, was coal. Why do little kids get threatened with coal in their stocking? i mean, there are plenty of worse things. things like animal poop, your best friend's vomit, hydrofluoric acid.... i mean it can get worse. why coal?
so i decided to discuss this with some geo kids in my class. Their only rebuttal was, "would you rather get presents or coal?" i replied with "definitely coal" they all thought i was stupid until i added, "my own diamond making kit"
(in case you didn't know.... diamonds come from coal)
i made a geology joke.
they thought i was funny for once.
(i was kinda serious)
